Priorities

Week 2 is finished and I have less to show than I would have liked. Still trying to get the hang of all of Android Studio’s various features. I sketched out another plan for different app features and I’ve realized that there are a lot of different aspects to this project, including a group chat feature. I have started looking into Google Maps to see how I can incorporate that into my app, should be interesting. More info on that next time. I think I will be alotting more time per day to research and implementation, and less to other classes.

Guerrilla Insurgents!

Here we go. This is the start of the end, the last thing I have to do before I graduate, my swan song. One week ago today I walked into DCP’s office excited and anxious. My task is straightforward; create a mobile app that shows the location of group members and allows people to opt in or out at their discretion. My first goal was to have an outline ready and to have Android Studio(AS) downloaded by the 30th. Unfortunately, my body came under attack from microscopic guerilla insurgents known collectively as “the flu” the Friday before, causing me to be pretty much bed-ridden for the whole weekend. Productivity? Gone. Fortunately I was able to still get a rough outline sketched out. Additionally, I found out that AS supports Linux based operating systems, which made me very happy. Thanks to a meeting with Dr. McVey I was able to get up and running with AS in no time.
